Investigative Services

Basic Analysis

The basic analysis starts by looking at the overall reliability of a statement and pinpoints where the subject’s words are unreliable, exposing deception when it exists. The analysis further identifies issues of sensitivity for the subject. These are the issues that are of heightened importance and can often show us additional areas to focus our subsequent follow up questions of a subject. The analysis comes with recommendations on what areas of the account may need further exploration by an investigator, which may put them on the path uncovering a hidden truth, an admission or a confession.

Detailed Analysis

With the detailed analysis, we look at more than just the reliability of the account. We dig in to find the fuller perceptions and perspectives of the subject. We look to pinpoint their priorities, motivations and find patterns and clusters of signals in the language when they exist that begins to paint a picture of the truth that the subject is unaware or is deliberately concealing from the investigator. With a detailed analysis, we can elevate our confidence in any findings of deception which will be held with a higher degree of reliability. We can now develop investigative theories about the subject’s knowledge and/or involvement of the crime.

Profiling

We do NOT conduct psycho analysis of persons or diagnose psychological disorders, etc. The analyst is NOT trained or qualified in the psychological sciences. Instead, the profile looks at aspects of personality as a layman’s approach. For example, we will not diagnose someone as a narcissist or psychopath, however, we can point out aspects of personality that may appear to be narcissistic in nature or otherwise exposes a need to consider aspects of personality types that the subject appears to display from a layman’s point of view.

The profile will also expose what is likely in people’s backgrounds, including when someone is currently struggling with addiction, in recovery from addiction, has a significant history with domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc.

Reverse Profiling can also be done in cases where a writing is viewed as important to an investigation, yet the author cannot/will not disclose who the intended recipient of the writing is. We profile who the recipient is through the contextual eyes of the author. How did the author view their relationship with the intended recipient? What type of role did this person play in the author’s life? What were their interactions like? etc.

Anonymous Authors

Often in an investigation, someone has reported receiving an anonymous threatening letter, ransom note or message of hate. In anonymous author analysis, we are taking the profile and looking further for clues into such aspects as the author’s age, race and sex. What is the author’s intelligence like? What type of profession is the author associated with?

We can also uncover masking in anonymous letters, which is when the author has a need to lie about, or mislead, the recipient as to who they are. This is a common aspect of deception found in anonymous letters when the author is someone close to the recipient. When the author is close to the recipient, we can then look for what their relationship is to the recipient as well.

Suspect Pool Analysis

If your investigation involves eliminating potential suspects in cases where the number of possible perpetrators is a finite but large number, we can offer assistance by helping eliminate persons from suspicion and narrowing down the suspect pool. Workplace employee theft is a common example of the type of investigations this service can help with. This service is offered at no cost when a client makes a commitment to having a detailed analysis done of at least one of the questionnaires that remains in the suspect pool.

This will be done by utilizing a customized questionnaire with the suspect pool the client will be responsible for distributing to the prospective suspects.

Pre-Employment Screening

Often, businesses suffer as a result of the employees they hire. Whether it be employee theft, employee performance issues based on work ethic, substance abuse, interpersonal issues with other employees or customers, or issues of honesty and integrity, a bad employee can bring problems for a business. Pre-employment screening utilizes a customized questionnaire where the prospective employee is asked to answer a few questions about themselves, and an analysis is conducted to profile for indicators that tell us if a subject should be flagged for one or more of these issues.
